Art of Worship

by Artist-in-Residence: Candice Griffin

Welcome to the Fellowship....

"We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you may also have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ" (1 John 1:3, NIV).

“Celebrate simply. Celebrate intentionally. Celebrate more. Live a life in Jubilee. Oh praise the One who paid my debt, and raised this life up from the dead!” Here are a few notes from the life of our community.

SCOTT COLE PREACHES | PENTECOST OFFERING
This Sunday, May 11, is Pentecost Sunday. Scott Cole will be our special guest speaker as FV joins churches across Alabama in receiving a special offering designated for New Church Starts. Our focus this year is the new church Scott is starting in McCalla. The offering’s goal is $15,000.

MISSIONAL GROUP | “SIMPLY CHRISTIAN”
We have had our first meeting of our new missional group formed around N. T. Wright’s book, Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense. Each week we begin with a video clip in which Dr. Wright discusses a portion of the book, and the rest of the time is devoted to a discussion of the clip.
Wednesdays, the Rogers’ House, 1631 Lake Cyrus Club Drive. Meeting 6:45 to 8 p.m. More info: Contact Mike.

INTERFAITH ART EXHIBIT | “SYMBOLS OF FAITH”
On Monday May 13, Katy Awad’s beautiful photos that display Alabama’s symbols of faith will be on display at the First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham. There will be a discussion about the photos at 7:30 in the sanctuary. Admission is free.

FV’s “GREEN” BOOTH | ROSS BRIDGE FRESH MARKET
Starting June 7, FV will have a booth at the Ross Bridge Fresh Market on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Hours for the market are 8:00 a.m. to noon.
We will be offering “green” and organic products. Partners for the booth will be Cool People Care and Fresh Air Family and the Freshwater Land Trust.
The purpose of the booth is to meet people and invite them to our fellowship. Please volunteer to work at the booth! You can sign up at FV on Sundays or email Doug Cole.
