Why We Are Here
Our mission is to provide
the people of the valley an opportunity to experience
fellowship with God and one another in order to become
fully mature, fully developed within and without,
fully alive like Christ. The verse from I John
at the top of our home page expresses what we are about.
Our Leaders
Mike
Lewis, Lead Pastor, comes to FOTV with
twenty-five years of pastoral experience as a Church
Planter, Pastor, and Educator. He is a graduate of
Auburn University (BA Psychology), and The Southern
Baptist Theological Seminary (M. Div. and D. Min.).
Before coming to Hoover, Mike served eighteen years as Pastor of Bay
Community Baptist Church, a church he started in
Massachusetts.
Scott
Cole, Associate Pastor in charge of Congregational
Formation, has almost sixteen years of
ministerial experience including almost seven years
of service as Senior Pastor, if there is such a
thing. He has degrees from Samford University (BA,
Religious Education) and Southwestern Baptist
Theological Seminary (MDiv) and University of Alabama
(MHES, Family Financial Planning and Counseling). Scott’s
wife, Tracy, is a nationally board certified
elementary school teacher and former elementary
school teacher of the year in Mountain Brook.
She has both a undergraduate and Master's Degree
from University of Alabama. She is experienced
in children’s ministry leadership and has a passion
for the formation and education of children.
How We Envision Our Future
Sharing life together as a local expression of the
kingdom of God where diverse people experience all the
benefits of the Spirit-filled life, share them with
others through service, and intentionally start new
churches as an effective means of taking the gospel of
Jesus Christ to all people.
Our Strategic Partners
Fellowship of the Valley is a Baptist faith
community with an ecumenical perspective. Our
current strategic partners are Shades Crest Baptist
Church, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, and
American Baptist Churches (USA).
